Circular Fixator

The FusionFrame Ring Lock System is the updated Ilizarov Method circular external fixation apparatus, specifically engineered to address the extensive requirements of foot and ankle specialists.

The FusionFrame Ring Lock System is the updated Ilizarov Method circular external fixation apparatus, specifically engineered to address the extensive requirements of foot and ankle specialists. Briefly described, the FusionFrame provides a weight-bearing scaffold that permits post-operative adjustments and, in most cases, allows patients to remain mobile throughout the course of treatment.  Its design ensures axial and circumferential stability, streamlined preassembly, minimally invasive application, system versatility and procedural efficiency.

The FusionFrame consists of externally mounted Rings and ancillary components that are interconnected with Rods. The construct is attached to the bone with a combination of percutaneously applied tensioned Wires and / or Half-Pins.  The system provides the ability to customize frames specific to patient needs, from static frames through complex foot & ankle deformities.

Applications

Charcot-Neuroarthropathy also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy or peroneal muscular atrophy, consists of a group of disorders that affect peripheral nerves. This disease often leads to deformities such as drop foot, hammertoes, and a collapse of the arch and joints in the foot. FusionFrame is designed as an orthopedic solution to treat these deformities, as a definitive solution during the often months-long recovery period.

Flap

In basic terms, a flap is a portion of tissue that can be dissected, elevated, and inset into a non-anatomic position as a consequence of its vascular supply and outflow. FusionFrame can be used to hold bony structures at desired lengths and positions allowing for the transplant of the flap and left in place until the flap has integrated and/or removed at the surgeons discretion.

Wound Care

Open wounds or sores often resulting from diabetes can be treated using FusionFrame as a way to protect the site and prevent weight bearing while graft or other means of treatment are pursued.

Ankle Trauma

In many cases where using external fixation to hold ankle fractures in place is required, the external fixator stabilizes the ankle until a second surgery for Open Reduction Internal fixation (ORIF) consisting of locking plates and screws is used. FusionFrame is designed to be the primary, definitive source of fixation replacing the need for a secondary ORIF surgery but can also be used as definitive treatment for immediate weightbearing in conjunction with ORIF.

Quick Connect Struts

The Quick-Connect Struts provide a mechanically stable and reproducible means for achieving controlled adjustments for the purposes of fracture management, limb lengthening and deformity corrections. Switching between controlled and quick adjustment is done by pushing/pulling the sleeve over the threaded segment.

Length measuring scale.

Interface is compatible with Ring holes.

FULL RING
140mm – 205mm

FULL RING

There are four diameters of Full Ring sizes: 140, 160, 180, and 205mm. All Rings are 8mm thick. They provide the scaffolding and structural support for the overall frame and are the primary platform from which all other components are connected.

HALF RING
140mm – 205mm

HALF RING

here are four diameters of Half Ring: 140, 160, 180, and 205mm. All Rings are 8mm thick. They provide the scaffolding and structural support for the overall frame and are the primary platform from which all other components are connected.

5/8 RINGS
140mm – 205mm

5/8 RINGS

The 5/8 Rings were designed with an open segment entailing 3/8 of the overall circumference of the ring to allow for increased range of motion around a joint. The 5/8 Rings are available in 140, 160, 180 and 205mm diameters.

FOOT PLATES
140mm – 205mm

FOOT PLATES

There are four sizes of Foot Plates: 140, 160, 180, and 205mm, each of which are compatible with their corresponding Ring sizes.

WALKIE PUCKS
140mm – 205mm

WALKIE PUCKS

Four to six Walkie Pucks may be added to the inferior side of the Foot Ring to assist the patient with weight bearing and ambulation.

THREADED RODS
60mm – 400mm

THREADED RODS

There are four diameters of Full Ring sizes: 140, 160, 180, and 205mm. All Rings are 8mm thick. They provide the scaffolding and structural support for the overall frame and are the primary platform from which all other components are connected.

QUICK CONNECT STRUTS
Three Lengths Available

QUICK CONNECT STRUTS

The Quick Connect Struts provide a systematic means for achieving controlled distraction (or compression) for the purposes of limb lengthening or fracture fixation. There are three sizes of Struts.

OBLIQUE SUPPORTS

OBLIQUE SUPPORTS

Oblique Supports may be used to connect a Half Ring, mounted across the Foot Plate, to the most distal ring on the tibial block, for a more symmetrical distribution of loads between the distal tibia and foot.

UNIVERSAL HINGES

UNIVERSAL HINGES

The Universal Hinges provide an unconstrained cardan joint that may be added to any threaded element.

THREADED SOCKETS
40mm / 60mm

THREADED SOCKETS

Threaded Sockets may be used as fixed spacers to allow rapid connections between two levels of Rings in a frame construct. They are available in 40 and 60mm lengths.

PLATES
20mm / 30mm

PLATES

Plates are used as horizontal spacers, swivels and outriggers. They are available in two sizes: 20mm (two hole) and 30mm (one hole, one slot).

90° Hinges

90° Hinges

The 90° Hinges are used to change the plane of the ring by 90°.

CONICAL WASHER COUPLES

CONICAL WASHER COUPLES

The Conical Washer Couples are assemblies consisting of two elements, a “cup” and “saucer,” that are packaged together and are used for connecting non-parallel Rings or two levels of different sized Rings.

HEXAGONAL NUTS

HEXAGONAL NUTS

Six-sided Nuts are used for the interconnection and locking of components to ensure stability.

WASHERS

WASHERS

Washers are used as spacers in combination with Wire Fixation Bolts for securement of wires that are situated above or below the plane of the ring. Available in 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 3.0mm thicknesses.

FOUR-SIDED COUNTING NUTS

FOUR-SIDED COUNTING NUTS

The four-sided Counting Nuts facilitate controlled compression or distraction and are used to simplify lengthening, shortening, transport and fusion procedures.

UNIVERSAL WIRE FIXATION BOLTS

UNIVERSAL WIRE FIXATION BOLTS

Cannulated Wire Bolts with a side groove allowing fixation of wires that are either offset with respect to Ring holes or wires that are centrally oriented with respect to the Ring holes.

HALF-PIN FIXATION BOLTS

HALF-PIN FIXATION BOLTS

Are used for the fixation of Half-Pins directly to the surface of a Ring or to one of the holes of a Male or Female Post. The Half-Pin Fixation Bolts accept all diameters and lengths of FusionFrame Half-Pins.

HALF-PIN FIXATION CUBES

HALF-PIN FIXATION CUBES

The Half-Pin Fixation Cubes provide a fast means for the fixation of Half-Pins above or below the plane of a given Ring. They are available in 1 – 4 hole towers.

MALE AND FEMALE HINGES AND POSTS

MALE AND FEMALE HINGES AND POSTS

The multi-hole Posts are made of stainless steel and come in either male or female configurations, with 1, 2, 3, or 4 holes. The one-hole Posts are typically referred to as Hinges.

BOLTS

BOLTS

10mm hexagonal head, 6mm diameter threaded component with 1.0mm pitch. Available in 12, 16 and 20mm lengths.
